BroadsheetTM AM300 EPD Prototype Kits
E Ink's BroadsheetTM Active Matrix Electronic Paper Display (EPD) Prototype Kit is the latest, most advanced prototype kit for development of the highly demanding electronic paper applications. The kit includes a product sample of a glass-based active matrix display made using E Ink's VizplexTM Imaging Film, Epson's S1D13521 display controller, along with all of the hardware and software necessary to produce a fully functional portable device. Taking advantage of the latest Broadsheet features such as pen input, basic animation and windowing, developers are enabled to design slick interfaces and unique applications. E Ink's Broadsheet Kit will support 5", 6", 8" and 9.7" displays; the 6" version will be the first kit available for purchase.

Details
The protoyping kit is based around the Gumstix single-board computer, which combines a Marvell XScale® PXA255 processor with a Bluetooth transceiver, USB, a serial port and an MMC card reader. For mobile device prototyping, the kit also includes two Li-ion batteries with a total capacity of over 4000 mW-h, and an integrated battery charger.
Linux, the popular open-source operating system, comes pre-installed on the Gumstix board. E Ink also supplies open-source software display drivers and sample applications. Developers will have access to the full source code for the operating system, drivers and applications, and to write and compile new applications using the
gcc development environment and cross-compiler.
The kit comes pre-configured to operate as a simple electronic book reader. Out of the box, users can download page images from their PC to the included MMC card and view them on the display with no further programming or assembly.
